The Climeworks Solutions products
Climeworks offers standardized Carbon Removal Portfolios based on scientific guidance. Portfolios consist of different carbon removal credits, representing the removal of a specified quantity of carbon dioxide from the air. These credits are sourced from (i) Climeworks’ direct air capture facilities representing the highest quality form of carbon removal on the market, and (ii) projects from third-party carbon removal suppliers utilizing various technology and nature-based carbon removal solutions, vetted for highest quality within their domain.
The Technology-based portfolios
These standardized Carbon Removal Portfolios consist of nature-based and technology-based carbon dioxide removal (CDR):
- Category A – Technology-based CDR: Highest quality Direct Air Capture, Enhanced Rock Weathering, Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage ("BECCS") and/or other technology removal solutions.
- Category B – Nature-based CDR: Afforestation, Reforestation, Mangroves, and/or Biochar and/or other nature-based carbon removal solutions.
How this portfolio works
At the time of purchase, customers will receive an order confirmation and invoice and can track their orders from the Climeworks dashboard.
Deliveries take place within 7 years following the year of purchase, with planned progressive deliveries starting with nature-based solutions, followed by a mix of nature and technology-driven solutions.
Upon delivery of the order, customers will receive a delivery note specifying the details of the removals, including supplier information and a link, when applicable, to the certifying/verifying entity and associated registry.
Climeworks can change the composition of its standard Carbon Removal Portfolios over time. The composition at the time of purchase is what defines the portfolio composition planned to be delivered over the delivery lifetime.
