Your mission
Job description
Your role: As an intern, you will support the evaluation and development of sorbents and sorbent structures for DAC. You will gain hands-on experience in lab-based testing, data analysis, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Lab Assessments: You collaborate within an integrated team to carry out lab-based assessments, including adsorption characterization, accelerated lifetime testing, and process-relevant evaluations of novel materials.
Material Stability: You investigate material stability by testing under accelerated aging conditions to simulate long-term performance.
Sorbent Characterization: You characterize sorbent behaviour by measuring unary and binary isotherms under controlled conditions.
Independent Work: You work independently on targeted work packages to understand how material properties influence DAC performance.
Method Development: You contribute to the development, refinement, and validation of experimental methods to ensure reliable and reproducible testing outcomes.
Documentation & Communication: You validate, troubleshoot, and clearly document your work to ensure effective communication across interdisciplinary development teams at Climeworks.
Your story
Requirements
Education & Experience: You have a bachelor’s degree and/or are working towards a master’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or similar.
Technical Skills: You enjoy working hands-on in the lab, and you have some classroom or other experience with any of the following: characterization of porous materials (N₂ adsorption, Hg porosimetry, DVS, etc.), adsorption characterization (breakthrough testing).
Additional Knowledge: Familiarity with CO₂ capture is beneficial but not required.
Mindset: You are eager to learn new concepts, skills, and tools that you might need to complete your assignments.
Working Style: You are reliable, motivated, solution-oriented, concise, and have a structured working style.
Availability: You are available for a 6-month internship with a start date preferably in January/February 2026 or shortly thereafter.
Language Skills: You are fluent in English; knowledge of German or other languages is beneficial but not required.

What we offer:
At Climeworks, our six-month internships offer a hybrid work setup, giving you flexibility while ensuring valuable collaboration by working onsite at least three days per week. To maintain fairness, we follow a standardized salary process based on market benchmarks. For our internships based in Switzerland, the compensation is:
During BSc & MSc: CHF 2,000 per month
After completion of MSc: CHF 2,500 per month
