We develop, build and operate direct air capture (DAC) machines which capture CO₂ directly from the air. The captured carbon dioxide is removed from the air by safely storing it underground, permanently.
Founded in 2009 by engineers, Christoph Gebald and Jan Wurzbacher, Climeworks was built with a mission to inspire 1 billion people to remove CO₂ from the air, and is now spearheading the DAC industry globally. It has the world’s largest DAC facility and storage installation in operation and a team of over 300 Climeworkers determined to contribute to a net-zero future.

Your mission
Job description
- Your mission at Climeworks is to operate and maintain the DAC plants Orca & Mammoth, ensuring the production of over 30,000 tons of Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) from mid-2024 onwards. We operate with an OKR-oriented and sustainable approach, focusing on the efficient operation and maintenance of the Orca & Mammoth Plant. By ensuring plant availability and optimizing CO2/CDR production, we secure sales targets and contribute to realizing the Climeworks Vision of a sustainable future.
- You maintain a safe and compliant plant operation, upholding a safety culture without compromises.
- You plan and execute the assigned daily tasks for operation and optimization of the Orca & Mammoth Plants.
- You execute planned and unplanned maintenance works on the mechanical & rotating equipment and piping of the Orca & Mammoth Plants.
- You plan and contribute to the development of maintenance regimes for mechanical & rotating equipment and piping for Orca & Mammoth.
- You operate and maintain the Orca & Mammoth Plants efficiently. You support the construction and commissioning of the Mammoth Plant.
- You ensure the maintenance of required processes and tools.
Your story
Requirements
- You completed a technical apprenticeship or equivalent in mechanics.
- You possess over 6 years of practical work experience (post-apprenticeship) in plant operation and maintenance within the process engineering industry.
- You have demonstrated experience in operation and maintenance with mechanical & rotating equipment and piping.
- Your detailed technical knowledge and capabilities span mechanical & rotating equipment and piping.
- You boast a proven track record in operation and maintenance within power, process, mining, refining, or pharmaceutical industries.
- You plan and perform hands-on mechanical work.
- You excel as a strong coordinator, communicator, and collaborator.
- You exhibit qualities of self-reliance, organization, and structure.
- You are committed to continuous, persistent, and sustainable improvement.
- You are fluent in business English.
- You are willing to travel up to 40%.
