Climeworks removes CO₂ from the air to fight global warming and protect future generations to come.
We develop, build and operate direct air capture (DAC) machines which capture CO₂ directly from the air. The captured carbon dioxide is removed from the air by safely storing it underground, permanently.
Founded in 2009 by engineers, Christoph Gebald and Jan Wurzbacher, Climeworks was built with a mission to inspire 1 billion people to remove CO₂ from the air, and is now spearheading the DAC industry globally. It has the world’s largest DAC facility and storage installation in operation and a team of over 300 Climeworkers determined to contribute to a net-zero future.

Your mission
Job description
- You develop and validate analytical testing methodologies for new and/or existing synthesis, to control the extent of the reaction and to determine its end-conditions.
- You prepare technical specifications and SOPs.
- You carry out testing to characterize sorbent materials.
- You contribute to continuous process improvement to ensure the quality standards of our sorbent technology.
- You are team player, able to communicate efficiently with internal and external stakeholders.
- You implement a safety-first culture and ensure that Climeworks and all work-related standards are being met.
- You will be responsible for your own goals and for the reporting of your work.
Your story
Requirements
- You have completed a master’s degree in a scientific field (preferably analytical chemistry, industrial chemistry, material sciences or similar).
- You bring practical experience in using various analytical methods for the characterization of materials (especially gas physisorption, Hg porosimetry, breakthrough analysis, GC/MS).
- You have already gained experience in a research laboratory and ideally you have at least 5 years of industrial experience.
- You are motivated to do hands-on laboratory work.
- Your previous knowledge of carbon capture is an advantage.
- You are open to travel up occasionally (10% of the time).
- You are fluent in English. German is a plus.
