Climeworks online carbon removal portfolio solutions

Pioneering tangible carbon solutions since 2009

Climeworks offers standardized Carbon Removal Portfolios based on scientific guidance.

Portfolios consist of different carbon removal credits, representing the removal of a specified quantity of carbon dioxide from the air.

Credits are sourced from (i) Climeworks’ own direct air capture facilities and (ii) projects from third-party carbon removal suppliers utilizing various technology and nature-based carbon removal solutions, vetted for highest quality within their domain.

At the time of purchase, customers will receive an order confirmation and invoice and can track their orders from the Climeworks dashboard.

Deliveries take place within 7 years following the year of purchase.

Upon delivery, customers will receive a delivery note specifying the details, including supplier information.

Here are the CDR technologies that are included in the portfolios

Nature-based solutions

Afforestation

Drives biomass carbon uptake through non-forest to forest land conversion. AF vs RF differ in the prevalence of the non-forest condition

Benefits: Enhanced biodiversity and community benefits.

Biochar

Utilizes pyrolysis to heat biomass at high temperatures and store carbon in a more stable form, in addition to soils.

Benefits: Improved soil health and crop yield.

Mangroves

Sequesters carbon through biomass growth and soil carbon accumulation in coastal ecosystems, particularly in anaerobic soils

Benefits: Enhanced biodiversity and community benefits.

Technology-based solutions

Enhanced Rock Weathering

Accelerates natural chemical mineralization of CO₂ to capture CO₂ from the atmosphere through treatment/distribution of minerals

Benefits: Improved soil health and crop yield.

BECCS

Involves processing biomass for bioenergy while capturing and storing the CO₂, with variations depending on the storage methodology

Benefits: Highly permanent and measurable.

Direct Air Capture & Storage

Uses a chemical process to adsorb CO₂ from ambient air, and stores the captured CO₂ underground in geological reservoirs

Benefits: Highly permanent and measurable.

The benefits

Maximum impact with a quality portfolio at an affordable price.

Reduced risk with sourcing and vetting managed by Climeworks.

Easy and convenient fully managed portfolio, supporting scale up of CDR industry.
