Your mission
Job description
Operational responsibility: You oversee the day-to-day operation and maintenance of Climeworks’ Direct Air Capture (DAC) plants, Orca and Mammoth. By ensuring operational reliability and fostering a culture of excellence, you help maximize CO₂ removal output and advance Climeworks’ mission.
Plant operations: You ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the Orca and Mammoth plants, maintaining a safety culture without compromise and securing plant availability and CDR (Carbon Dioxide Removal) production.
Maintenance management: You plan, execute, and report both planned and unplanned maintenance activities for mechanical and rotating equipment, piping, instrumentation, electrical, and control systems. You drive and monitor maintenance KPIs and costs.
Process and system implementation: You implement and maintain all required operational processes and tools, including the setup and management of spare parts systems and the operation of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Continuous improvement: You develop calibration and maintenance regimes, support plant ramp-up and improvement activities, and continuously optimize systems to ensure long-term reliability and performance.
Collaboration and leadership: You work cross-functionally with engineering, production, and support teams to align maintenance strategies and foster a culture of efficiency, structure, and continuous progress.
Your story
Requirements
Background: You hold a B.Sc. degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering or a related discipline, with at least 10 years of experience in operation and maintenance within the process engineering industry.
Expertise: You bring detailed technical knowledge in mechanical and rotating equipment, piping, instrumentation, electrical, and DCS systems, and have hands-on experience in ramp-up and commercial plant operation and improvement.
Experience: You have a proven, multi-year track record in plant operation and maintenance in power, process, mining, refining, or pharmaceutical industries, ideally within scale-up or first-of-its-kind environments.
Work style: You are structured, KPI-driven, and continuously seek improvement. You are a strong communicator, collaborator, and coordinator with a clear focus on achieving high performance.
Languages and travel: You are business fluent in English and open to travel up to 40%.

Salary: At Climeworks, salary ranges are assigned to a job based on the level of seniority and the location specific market median of similar jobs according to external benchmark surveys. Individual compensation depends on your skills, experience, and the value you bring to the team.
