Climeworks provided a platform for climate science at the Direct Air Capture Summit 2020
On 8th September 2020, Climeworks hosted the Direct Air Capture Summit 2020, a conference discussing carbon dioxide removal solutions and their potential to help stop global warming. We had the honor to welcome experts from various backgrounds as keynote speakers. They provided insights on climate science and policy, different carbon capture solutions, and CO₂ storage.

What's special about the Direct Air Capture Summit 2020 is its hybrid character: our keynote speakers joined on site in the Kunsthaus Zurich as well as from remote!
Prof. Dr. Reto Knutti
"The world needs to scale up not one, but many solutions to tackle climate change. The Direct Air Capture Summit 2020 gives expert insights into several of them and illustrates their potential in reaching global climate targets."
Dr. Edda Sif Aradóttir
"The Carbfix and Climeworks technologies mark a turning point in climate action, allowing us to permanently capture CO₂ already emitted to the atmosphere and rapidly turn into stone underground. Through continued up-scaling of these technologies a climate disaster can be avoided while at the same time establishing a new industrial pillar for the global economy."
Dr. Christoph Gebald
"The urgency of the climate crisis demands solutions. The Direct Air Capture Summit 2020 demonstrates that these solutions exist and need to be scaled up, starting now. Corporates can play a major role in this and have shown their ability and willingness to act. They can enable a market for carbon dioxide removal and help building a more resilient, climate-positive economy."
Nicholas Moore Eisenberger
"I have spent most of my professional career working on capitalizing and commercializing climate solutions, and I have come to believe that Direct Air Capture and the carbon removal solutions it enables is absolutely essential for humanity to address climate change. The Summit provides a critical opportunity to bring global leaders together to align around a compelling, positive vision and an actionable road map for rapidly scaling Direct Air Capture to begin to build a more sustainable, equitable, and prosperous future.
Geoffrey Holmes
"Climate solutions to reduce emissions and to remove carbon back from the atmosphere are more important than ever, especially as countries now seek ways to spur investment and put citizens back to work. Direct Air Capture can play a key role, and already today is affordable, feasible, and available. For Carbon Engineering, sharing this message and the vision for Direct Air Capture with policy makers and industry leaders is of utmost importance."
