Learn about Climeworks' activities in Davos.
Climeworks will be in Davos during the week of January 20-24, 2025. Co-founder and co-CEO Christoph Gebald will lead the company’s delegation to tackle some of the most pressing global challenges since 1971.
As the world navigates rapid technological, geopolitical, and sustainability shifts, Climeworks is committed to advancing vital conversations on climate solutions. The company will emphasize the critical role of both natural and engineered, high-quality carbon removal in helping businesses meet sustainability targets and accelerating the transition to a net-zero global economy.
Throughout the week, Climeworks will focus on fostering strategic partnerships, engaging with key political and business leaders, and demonstrating the pivotal role of carbon removal solutions in achieving both corporate sustainability goals and global net-zero targets.
Climeworks will have a prominent presence in Davos, including co-founder and co-CEO Christoph Gebald and Chief Commercial Officer Adrian Siegrist. They are looking forward to actively participating in key conversations, sharing Climeworks' progress, and exploring new opportunities for collaboration to scale carbon removal efforts globally.
Climeworks begins this significant week after a year of important milestones. In 2024, the company celebrated its 15th anniversary, launched Mammoth—the world’s largest DAC facility—and secured $50 million for Project Cypress. It also introduced Climeworks Solutions, combining advanced DAC technology with nature-based methods, and revealed its Generation 3 DAC technology at the Carbon Removal Summit. Furthermore, Mammoth received Puro certification, setting new industry standards for carbon credits.
Over the course of the week, Climeworks will participate in several key events throughout the city, aimed at advancing sustainability efforts and fostering partnerships to drive the deployment of carbon removal solutions at scale. These initiatives will serve as platforms for high-level discussions on how to scale carbon removal and decarbonization efforts globally.
On Sunday, January 19, Climeworks will host an exclusive executive dinner from 6:30 to 8:30 PM in Zurich for senior sustainability leaders. This intimate event will offer a relaxed yet impactful setting to reflect on the progress made over the past year and discuss strategies for building momentum toward COP30 in Belém, Brazil.
On January 20, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, Climeworks will host an exclusive evening focused on the critical role of carbon removal in achieving corporate sustainability goals. Moderated by Emily Jackson-Kessler, Senior Vice President of Sustainability at The Economist, this event will feature a thought-provoking panel discussion with key sustainability leaders:
Aurelia Figueroa, Chief Sustainability Officer at Breitling
Carrie Harris, Director of Sustainability at British Airways
Tatsuro Watanabe, Chief Sustainability Officer at Mitsui O.S.K. Lines.
The panel will explore how carbon removal strategies are transforming corporate sustainability and driving the transition to net zero. Following the discussion, guests will have the opportunity to engage in an intimate dinner and networking session, allowing for deeper conversations and the chance to connect with industry peers and panelists in a relaxed, collaborative setting.
On Tuesday, January 21, from 11:00 AM to 1:15 PM, Climeworks will host the climate executive lunch, focused on integrating natural and engineered climate solutions through a portfolio approach. This invite-only event will bring together climate innovators and corporate leaders to explore how the combination of nature-based and engineered solutions can drive greater resilience, sustainability, and measurable impact.
Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss cutting-edge practices in carbon removal and climate action, collaborate on scalable solutions, and discover how a blended approach can amplify efforts to reach global decarbonization goals. This intimate lunch offers a unique opportunity to engage with leading experts and key stakeholders in the climate space.
