Your mission

Job description

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated individual to lead and build our Global EPC Contracts & Procurement team. Climeworks’ business is unique as we span the entire value chain of direct air capture (DAC) and carbon dioxide removal (CDR). We invented the technology, we design & manufacture the OEM product, and finally integrate this into a Process Plant designed by our in-house team of engineers. We work with EPCs/contractors to do detailed design and construction, which we commission & operate ourselves. We are seeking candidates with experience in EPC contracting and negotiation, as well as long lead direct procurement and supply chain development, to work closely with our Projects team to execute megaprojects around the world. The seniority and reporting level of the candidate will depend on the breadth and depth of experience. The ideal candidate shall have had experience in EPC contracts management, claims management & procurement, both on the client and the contractor side. Past experience in scale-up of a nascent industry is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and develop a global supply chain for EPC vendors & major equipment used in the Direct Air Capture industry.
  • Lead EPC negotiations to implement the best contracting strategies to achieve Climeworks scale-up objectives.
  • Work with project managers and engineers through the entire EPC project life cycle - from expression of interest, to bid, to award, claim management and close out.
  • Develop a reliable and fast-moving network of suppliers (A&E, EPC, construction sub-contractors).
  • Develop standard contracts for EPC engagements.
  • Develop strategic partnerships for high-volume / long lead items.
  • Manage and maintain relationships with key suppliers and vendors to ensure the timely delivery of materials, equipment, and execution of projects.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving measures throughout the supply chain.
  • Liaise closely with the Legal department to establish streamlined and scalable contracts and contracting strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations related to supply chain and procurement.
  • Keep abreast of market trends, new technologies, and regulations to ensure that the company remains at the forefront of the industry.

Your story

Requirements
  • Any combination of the below:
    • Bachelor in Mechanical, Chemical or Aerospace Engineering
    • Bachelor in Business Admin, Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Contract Management, Construction or a related field.
    • Juris Doctor
  • Has had practical experience in both the United States of America and Europe.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in supply chain and procurement, with a proven track record of success in a similar role.
  • Experience delivering multi-billion dollar megaprojects.
  • Experience in legal contracting strategies and negotiations.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Travel is expected. If candidate is interested in a senior leadership role with direct reports, time in Switzerland should be expected while we work to build up the global team.
