Your mission

Job description

  • Root cause analysis: You support investigations into technical issues and help define the design basis for solutions that improve the operational reliability, availability, and performance of the Generation 2 Capture Unit.  

  • Concept development: You contribute to detailed design concepts, maintain accurate documentation, and support prototype fabrication and testing to validate improvements. 

  • Product data management: You create and maintain mechanical designs, drawings, specifications, and bills of materials in the company’s PLM system (Windchill). 

     

  • Design ownership: You ensure designs meet defined requirements, apply GD&T principles, and lead your own design projects from concept to implementation. 

  • Testing and validation: You assist in prototype fabrication, testing, and troubleshooting, helping verify and validate that design solutions meet performance and reliability targets.  

  • Continuous improvement: You participate in design reviews, quality assurance processes, and D-FMEA to ensure continuous improvement. 

  • Cross-functional communication: You work closely with internal teams and external partners, contributing ideas, handling IP-sensitive topics with care, and supporting early-stage R&D in sustainable technologies. 

Your story

Requirements

  • Educational background: You have completed a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field and have a solid foundation in mechanical design principles. 

  • Experience: You bring 2–4 years of industrial experience in design engineering and have successfully managed your own design projects from initial concept to implementation. 

  • Technical skills: You are proficient in CAD and the Windchill PLM system, experienced in mechanical part design, applying GD&T, and defining requirements to verify and validate your design solutions. 

  • Work style: You are structured, proactive, and creative, combining technical rigor with a strong sense of ownership and accountability. You thrive in dynamic, fast-evolving environments and approach challenges with curiosity and persistence. 

  • Collaboration: You work effectively across teams and with external partners, communicating clearly and contributing innovative ideas that drive progress and strengthen collaboration in early-stage R&D 

  • Languages & travel: You are fluent in English and open to travel up to 15% to support project needs.

Salary: At Climeworks, salary ranges are assigned to a job based on the level of seniority and the location specific market median of similar jobs according to external benchmark surveys. Individual compensation depends on your skills, experience, and the value you bring to the team.

Formalities: 

  • This position is based in Opfikon, Zurich, and we ask that you work onsite at least three days per week.

  • The percentage in the job title means flexibility – choose full-time or part-time based on what works for you.
