Climeworks removes CO₂ from the air to fight global warming and protect future generations to come.

We develop, build and operate direct air capture (DAC) machines which capture CO₂ directly from the air. The captured carbon dioxide is removed from the air by safely storing it underground, permanently.

Founded in 2009 by engineers, Christoph Gebald and Jan Wurzbacher, Climeworks was built with a mission to inspire 1 billion people to remove CO₂ from the air, and is now spearheading the DAC industry globally. Your mission

Job description
  • Your mission at Climeworks is to ensure Climeworks' competitive advantage by identifying and delivering best-in-class plant design solutions for mechanical, civil, structural, piping and plant arrangement engineering together with your team to meet project and overarching cost reduction goals.
  • You hire, build, lead and foster collaboration and employee development of a highly qualified team of 10+ engineers in Switzerland, Germany and the US.
  • You are responsible for project staffing, quality assurance, development and documentation of efficient work processes and provide guidance on opportunities for optimization and improvements.
  • You make sure that you have adequate resources and a balanced mix of seniority in the team to ensure that the design, engineering, and documentation scope for projects is delivered according relevant codes, at high quality and in compliance with safety standards.
  • You strive for continuous optimization of the process plant with regards to total cost of ownership, manufacturability, transportability, constructability, functionality, serviceability and commissioning in collaboration with other plant engineering disciplines.
  • You define and enforce technical standards, tools and methods in your field.
  • You ensure industrialization and supply chain efficiency according to the Climeworks scale-up roadmap while adhering to cost targets.

Your story

Requirements
  • You hold an advanced degree in mechanical engineering or similar.
  • You have at least 12 years of work experience in the machine, oil and gas or plant construction industry.
  • You gathered a minimum 5 years in a leadership position (direct reports).
  • You are familiar with current standards and directives in mechanical and plant engineering.
  • You take ownership, are driven and result oriented, holding yourself and others accountable for success.
  • You are a team builder and player, that has strong communication skills and works seamlessly across organizations.
  • You bring a proven track record to lead and successfully conclude plant design cost reduction initiatives.
  • You are fluent in English.
