Your mission

Job description

As the leader of the Performance Engineering team and an active member, you manage a team of Performance Engineers whose main responsibility is to quantify the current performance expectations of Climeworks DAC technology in terms of productivity, energy consumption and sorbent consumption throughout all execution stages of a project, i.e from technology development stage, project development stage, project execution stage to the plant operation stage.

More specifically, the Performance Engineering team is responsible to:
- Explain the DAC plants' performance variations and transfer all learnings and identified gaps between expected and actual performance to the       appropriate development teams.
- Support the Plant Operations teams in identifying and implementing cost and energy savings opportunities.
- Support the Plant Operations teams in troubleshooting activities.
- Collaborate closely with the Plant Operations Engineering team to validate plant performance models.
- Transfer the learnings and latest developments from lab-scale testing to plant scale.
- Adapt process and sorbent parameters to specific sites being considered for future DAC plants by conducting single- and multi-objective         techno-economic optimization studies.

  • You hire, build, lead and foster collaboration & employee development of a highly qualified team of engineers and/or scientists.
  • You mentor and train junior members of the team.
  • You generate new ideas and concepts to improve Climeworks IP portfolio. You stay abreast of all new relevant technological developments in the field and provide competitive assessment.

Your story

Requirements
  • You hold a university degree at BSc or MSc level, in process engineering, chemical engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • You bring advanced knowledge in industrially applied adsorption processes or gas separation processes in general.
  • You have at least 10 years of industrial experience in a similar role. Hands-on experience in optimization, productivity improvement, operations cost reduction, efficiency improvements and/or troubleshooting of gas separation plants is a big plus.
  • You have leadership experience in managing a small technical team directly reporting to you.
  • You take ownership, prefer detail-oriented work and thrive working in an interdisciplinary team.
  • You are fluent in English. German is beneficial but not required.
