Your mission

Job description
  • Your mission at Climeworks is to support project development in the United States by managing the regulatory and permitting aspects of new projects and for the expansion of existing facilities.
  • You develop and execute project-specific regulatory and permitting plans, including meeting relevant environmental assessment process requirements.
  • You support the project team by identifying relevant regulatory requirements and permits to enable construction and start of operation of new projects and expansion of existing facilities.
  • You identify the regulatory and permitting risks and trade-offs related to project decisions.
  • You coordinate communication between external consultants, external stakeholders (including regulators), and Climeworks to prepare for and participate in any environmental assessment process (federal or state level), and public review for new projects.
  • You prepare the handover package of permits and approvals identifying compliance requirements, and commitments to external stakeholders, all of which must be managed by Climeworks’ Operations.
  • You work closely with the Community Engagement Specialist to identify environmental assessment and regulatory requirements for external engagement and to manage the QA/QC of reporting on engagement to regulators.
  • You work closely with the Community Engagement Specialist at external events as the subject-matter expert on regulatory matters.

Your story

Requirements
  • You hold a bachelor’s degree in social science, engineering, or sciences.
  • You have at least 8 years of experience in a relevant sector managing the regulatory and permitting aspects of projects.
  • You have experience managing the federal and/or state environmental assessment processes for medium and large-scale projects as well as experience working with regulators to understand regulatory requirements and translating regulators’ needs to the Project Team.
  • You have experience working with multi-disciplinary project teams to identify regulatory requirements and permits to enable compliant construction and operations activities.
  • You are adept at identifying, assessing, and managing risks related to regulatory, permitting and environmental assessment matters.
  • You are comfortable communicating with external stakeholders to understand their interests and identify and implement mitigation measures, as needed.
  • You can communicate complex, technical information to regulators and the public.
